Teaching
In addition to its primary focus on policy research and outreach, CLOSUP also works to facilitate student learning and engagement with today's critical local, state, and urban policy issues. Several of CLOSUP's programs described elsewhere, such as the collaborative research projects, events, research grants, and web site provide important educational opportunities and resources for undergraduate and graduate students from across the University's departments and schools. CLOSUP also provides small funding amounts to foster and support student-run projects and events, both within the Ford School, and across the University campus. In addition, the CLOSUP Director often teaches courses through the Ford School of Public Policy. CLOSUP occassionally offers internships to Ford School students to gain course credit while working on CLOSUP applied policy research projects. And finally, CLOSUP also works with units off-campus and with the Ford School Graduate Career Services Office to sponsor summer internship opportunities for students interested in obtaining hands-on experience in state or local government.
