Summary
Five participating municipalities of the Centre Region COG, acting through the Centre Regional Recreation Authority, created the Millbrook Marsh Nature Center from a twelve-acre farmstead and fifty-acre wetland. This endeavor has proven to be an important nature and recreation destination in the Centre Region, offering quality environmental education programs to more than eight thousand visitors a year, including tour groups, summer camp programs, community events, recreational activities and leisure programs.
Description
The Centre Region COG/Centre Region Recreation Authority receives the 2008
Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence for establishing the Millbrook
Marsh Nature Center. Five participating municipalities of the Centre Region COG,
acting through the Centre Regional Recreation Authority, created the nature center
from a twelve-acre farmstead and fifty-acre wetland, The center is located less than a
mile from State College Borough.
This endeavor has proven to be an important nature and recreation destination in the
Centre Region, offering quality environmental education programs to more than eight
thousand visitors a year, including tour groups, summer camp programs, community
events, recreational activities and leisure programs.
