Description

For many years Waynesboro Borough and Washington Township have been collaborating for the common good of both municipalities. In 2009, this cooperation rose to a new height when both municipalities joined forces 22 different ways to make both governments more efficient and effective by reducing duplication and saving both municipalities money.

Major projects include completing and then adopting their first joint comprehensive plan, negotiating without any obstacles a new three-year fire service agreement and a joint purchases, and shared services agreement.

In addition, both municipalities fully cooperated with the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce by serving on the Waynesboro Industrial Development Corporation and Vision 2015 boards to enhance economic development in the community. The new comprehensive plan has set specific economic development goals for both communities to enhance the overall economy of the greater Waynesboro area for the next decade.
