Presenters
Kenneth E. Warner, PhD, Dean, University of Michigan School of Public Health and Avedis Donabedian Distinguished University Professor of Public Health. Dr. Warner served as the Senior Scientific Editor of the 25th anniversary U.S. Surgeon General's report on smoking and health, published in 1989. He is the founding director of the University of Michigan Tobacco Research Network and has played a seminal role in tobacco control research and policy on both the national and international stage.
Jonathan E. Fielding MD, MPH, MA, MBA, Director, Department of Public Health and Health Officer, Los Angeles County. Earlier this year Dr. Fielding testified before the Senate HELP Committee on "A National Strategy to Reduce Tobacco Use and Obesity." As Los Angeles public health director, Dr. Fielding oversees one of the largest health departments in the United States. He is Professor of Health Services and Pediatrics at UCLA and a Board member of the American Legacy Foundation that developed the effective "truth" campaign to reduce youth smoking.
Thomas George, MD, State Senator, Michigan. Dr. George serves as chair of the State Senate Health Policy Committee for the state of Michigan, where he has taken an active role in the workplace smoking ban issue. Dr. George is a practicing physician from the Kalamazoo area and has represented the 20th District of the Michigan Senate since 2002.
